Default Opportunities Australia Expo - this weekend

Anyone know more info about the Manchester expo this weekend ?
http://www.expo-australia.com/

Their website is a bit scant on detail and I see its £10 entry and they
charge extra for seminars... sounds like bit of a moneymaking lark

anyone else going along ??

Hi,
I went to the Earls court expo on Sunday. It was well worth it. The
seminar on Immigration and visas was free. Good job. Didnt tell me
anything I didnt know about tyes of visa ie spuse, sponsership etc. I
wouldnt pay, you can get more info on here. There were reps from Shell,
loads of recruitment agencies, nursing boards, government officals, reps
from Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth selling their particular areas,
hairdressing academy, banks, lawyers, visa companies removal firms and a
cuddly bear! Sorry, felt I was reciting the contents of the conveyor
belt then.

They were all very positive and I have made at least four really
contacts (Im a Nurse). If you can go, I would advise you to. Under
12's are free.

Good luck and let us know what you thought.

Thanks Donna,

I think it'll be good for my wife as she's never been to Aus and should
help to keep her motivated. We won't be bringing our kids along to
allow us chance to talk and enjoy a nice meal afterwards!

Do you think an event like this can be organised at zero cost?

Yes they are the statistics are :

5,000 visitors @ 10.00 = 50,000 GBP
X companies x minimum 6,000 GBP per stand (100 companies = 600,000 GBP)

Not bad for a weekends work !!

The correct term for these events is junket.

Registered Migration Agents are specifically excluded, unless they are
representing a prospective employer and not acting as Registered
Migration Agents.

If people think their best interests are served by taking migration
advice from prospective employers, DIMA officers, unregistered 'agents'
or 'skills assessors' who come along for the ride, perhaps they should
think again.

..well we went with an open mind, not sure why Roo Boy was so vexed.
Migration is big business after all. The Manchester one seemed a much
smaller affair - about 30 stands. DIMA did a visa options seminar (free
I think) useful only to newbies. Im sure they're was a migration Co.
stand Wesley as saw a massive queue for the ones wearing "free visa
advice" T-shirts. The most useful for us (We've just applied for visa)
was I got a guy to point out good & bad areas on a map, crucial info we
found, although I know its matter of opinion. The two recruiters I
spoke to were toss, offered no advice just fill out your details and we
can get your CV. Specific medical job, pension & removals advice also.
More useful I thought for people starting the emigration trail but
nothing you couldn't find on the web.
