Default One way flights booked through IOM

Just wondering - we received our visa granted letter last week and it
mentioned consessions on one way flights and extra baggage allowance if
you book through them ,IOM (International Organisation for Migration) -
Has anyone used them to book flights and if so what sort of discounts
are available?

Meanwhile, back to the decorating to get the house ready for the "For
Sale" board.

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary

In the end, we did not go through IOM but I did contact them. Here's
what I discovered:

The only airline that they have a contract with for these one-way
Migration Flights is Qantas. The flight must be one-way. If it is a
visa granting Permanent Residence and the flight is one-say, then you
can ask for (and get) a baggage allowance of 40kgs instead of the more
usual 20kgs.

However, Singapore Airlines was only £40 dearer and were prepared to
chuck these concessions in as routine in any case. We tend to be loyal
Singapore Airlines customers anyway so we stayed with them in the end.

I've also heard (though I don't know for sure) that IoM can allegedly
also arrange for containers to be shipped to Oz at very competitive
rates and I think one can trust the idea that their deal would be with
a very reputable shipping company. I don't know anything more about it
than that though.

Cheers

Gill

thanks for the advice Gill. I will get a price from Sigapore Airlines
when looking to book flights.

Garry, another one flying the Singapore Airlines flag, we have flown
with them several times now and when we moved out here late last year
we were able to get double baggage with no questions asked. The service
is great to!
