NYC USCIS forwarding APs to NBC - much quicker!
Hi,
My old AP expired, so I applied for a new one at NYC USCIS. This
usually takes 5+ months at NYC.
Due to the recent procedure changes, my mail-in AP application was
forwarded to NBC for processing. Result: from the day I mailed off my
application to the day the AP document hit my door mat was a mere 53
days.
Say it again. 53 days. Two score and thirteen.
Coupled with my recent E-filing of an EAD which only took about 90
days, and it seems this new procedure is really working. Hopefully now
NY USCIS can really concentrate on the AOS backlog (19 months and
counting for me.)
Cheers,
Marco

Re: NYC USCIS forwarding APs to NBC - much quicker!
Marco,
Did you receive any receipt for your AP filing or any case number you
can look up on-line? I applied for AP/EAD/AOS in the beginning of Oct at
NYC. I got NOA for my EAD and AOS application, but no confirmation of my
AP filing. How did you find out that your application was transfered to
NBC? It may be different from my case since you've been approved before
and just basically renew your AP, right?
Hopefully they would process my AP quickly as they did to your case. I
wonder if I get my AP by Christmas??
Thanks
Kohada

Hi! I'm actor Troy McClure. You may remember me from such threads as
'Re: NYC USCIS forwarding APs to NBC - much quicker!' and 'kohada:
tasty but deadly.'

Yes, I got an NOA for my AP. You should too.
When I originally applied for AOS (April '02) I was at first denied AP
due to 'no record of an AOS application on file.'
There was a rash of this happening to several AOS applicants last
year, and we surmised that someone at NYC USCIS wasn't doing their job
properly. Basically, it seems that when they receive an AOS/AP/EAD
application package, the components get split up and sent to different
departments. The AP department was processing faster than AOS
department and thus when they looked at my AP application the AOS
application wasn't yet on file and so they denied AP.
Like I say this happened to several of us NYC AOSers last year, and
might also have happened to you too. I would say not receiving an NOA
by now seems suspicious. I got mine within a couple of weeks, but as
you say, this may be a function of mine being a renewal rather than a
fresh application.
Anyone else done a new AOS/EAD/AP app at NYC USCIS lately who can shed
some light on the timeline?
Cheers,
Marco
P.S. Welcome to the NYC USCIS club! If you can make it through AOS
there, you'll make it through AOS anywhere!

Re: NYC USCIS forwarding APs to NBC - much quicker!
Thanks for your input, Marco.
I'll speak with my lawyer next week to find out what's going on my AP
application. If he is not helpful I'll try to contact BCIS directly.
According to BCIS processing timetable, they are processing receipt date
around Oct 23, 2003. Mine's supposed to be processed by now...

Re: NYC USCIS forwarding APs to NBC - much quicker!
Hi---was wondering, how long did it take to get your check cashed and
how long did it take to get your NOA for AP?
Mailed AP to 26 Fed in NYC 15 days ago and check not cashed yet, so a
little worried.
thanks.
