I am from Germany just got married in NYC to an American girl. We will
be moving to Miami in 3 weeks and keeping our NYC place...

So guess I have the choice

any advise where the process is faster, easier??
With the current weather my instincts tend towards Miami :-)

Thanks for all the wonderful input in this group

Hi! I'm actor Troy McClure. You may remember me from such threads as
'NYC or Miami' and 'Paul K: tasty but deadly.'

Firstly, congratulations on your marriage. AOS in NYC is currently
running 24-30 months.

This isn't a direct answer to your question, but a peripheral issue
you should be aware of:

If you move to Miami (Florida, no income tax) but keep your apartment
(rented or owned) in NYC, then you MAY continue to be considered a
resident of NYC and NY State for tax purposes and MAY be liable for
NYC and NYS income taxes. It depends on how long you and/or your
spouse have been living in NYC prior to the move. If either of you
were NYC residents for the entirety of 2003 it's likely you could fall
foul of this unhappy little rule.

Caveat: I am not an expert and you should investigate this matter for
yourself.

Cheers,

Marco
