Default North Carolina Travel Recommendations

I've seen some beautiful images on television lately of what I believe
is North Carolina. Many of the beaches appear very peaceful and
romantic.
I'm looking for a quiet and romantic getaway location.
I'm trying to learn more about North Carolina, but I'm afraid my only
experience
has been with movies like Message in a Bottle and To Gillian on Her
37th Birthday.
I have found some info on Brunswick Island at
http://www.ncbrunswick.com/.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

amiwebguy

Check out Ocean Isle. It's small and peaceful and not as
overrun and touristy as other areas. It's also close to
Calabash for great seafood and reasonably close to Myrtle
Beach for entertainment and shopping.

Regards, Daniel

Be aware that Message in a Bottle was NOT filmed in NC, even though
the story was set there. I think it is Maine or elsewhere in New
England.

The NC Beaches are wonderful. It all depends on what you are looking
for. If you just want a nice beach, a nice beach house, and some
relaxing then I might recommend certain places like Duck or Bald Head
Island. If you want to do some sightseeing, shopping, etc. then other
places may be better. Ocracoke Island is very nice and sort of has it
all - it is small enough to bike around, yet has enough restaurants,
bars etc. to be entertained.

I'd probably avoid Nags Head/Kitty Hawk. Visit if you are in the Outer
Banks, but traffic is awful and I wouldn't stay there for a vacation.

At risk of offending any of the fine folks along the Outer Banks, I'd have
to agree about not staying in the Nags Head area. But drive a few miles
south along route 12 and you'll enter into the Cape Hatteras National
Seashore and there are many many miles of beautiful secluded beaches along
Hatteras Island, and several fine villages with good accommodations ranging
from hotels to beach houses. As mentioned, Ocracoke is a quaint island, all
National Seashore except the small village of Ocracoke itself. It is
accessible only by ferry from either Hatteras (free 40 minute ride across
the inlet) or from the mainland (I think that's around $10 and takes several
hours.)

Visit any of the NC beaches! But decide if you want something more
commercial and tourist oriented, or something more secluded and remote. NC
has these and everything in between!
