Hello,

I am applying under "skilled worker" category, and have contacted
previous employers for paperwork. However, none of them have provided
me with the original employment contract; they did however send me a
letter providing details of my job (when, where, salary,
responsibilities) and have signed the letter on original stationery and
attached business cards. Will this be enough? I was told they do not
give out employment contracts, but these detailed letters should
provide all of the information.

Just as a further endorsement, this is exactly what I got from my
previous
employers and the CHC in London accepted them with no questions.

Ditto. Employment contracts are pretty rare in the US, only for certain
types of jobs. I provided just these letters and explained that I never had
contracts for any of my jobs in the cover letter. As this poster says, it
was apparently fine because I just got my visa this month. (You'd hear about
it a lot sooner than that if it wasn't - your application would probably be
rejected as incomplete, or else they would send you a letter asking for the
extra info before your initial assessment, which is generally at about the
1-yr mark for skilled workers from the US; YMMV)
