Default Need advice. Temporary Resident Visa from Manila to Canada.

Greetings,

I could not find a newsgroup about tourist visits to Canada, so I must
ask my questions here. I am a citizen of the Philippines who wishes
to visit Canada as a temporary visitor later this year or next year.
I have gone to to the Canadian Embassy in Manila web site. But I'd
still like to hear some advice from fellow Filipinos who have made the
same trip already.

How does the process go and how long does it take? Is it true that
there is usually no interview?

If an interview is required, what time do I have to be there? How
long does it take?

What advice can you give?

What can I expect?

What documents did you bring that helped to have your application
approved?

How high are the chances of being denied a visitor visa to Canada as
compared with the United States? I know how difficult it is to enter
the States and, quite recently, a friend who was going there on a
business trip told me nearly all the tourist-visa applications were
denied.

How much money would I need to have?

Would it help to show a round-trip ticket?

What can the host relative or friend do to help? Is it important to
send a letter of invitation and proof of support? Or would the consul
be more interested in proofs of intention to return to the
Philippines?

I hope there are people here who can help me. I would be thankful for
your advice. I'd especially like to hear of your personal experiences
so that I'd know what to expect.

M.M.

everything is basically in their website. you dont need to buy a
ticket yet until you pass your interview (passport will be mailed back
with the visa few days after the interview).if its a pleasure trip, u
need to show atleast a P100K of unencumbered funds to show you can
support yourself the entire time of stay. You should also convince the
officer that you will be coming back--like proof of authorized leave
from work, business, properties you own in Manila. If you have a
relative in Canada, you can ask for a letter of invitation (they shd
be legally staying in Canada and can afford to take care of you -in
principle). As for the chances of being approved, its the officer's
discretion. For things to be accomplished/checklist-visit the website.
