Need advice: Family immigration, unreasonable requests by immigration office
I sponsored my father for family class immigration the September of
last year. I have a 21 y.o. brother leaving independently in the U.S.,
who was not sponsored or listed as an accompanying dependent.
The first few steps of the process went very smoothly, and at a good
speed. They asked my brother to do medical examinations as well, even
though he has no intent to immigrate, and he accomodated this request.
But the process has been stalled and requests for more and more
information seem to come along. A form was sent to us asking for more
information about my brother's background and military service.
Someone called my father from the Canadian emabassy, and after
discussing the issue, told my father that there has been a mistake by
the previous case worker. According to her, the previous officer
thought that my brother intended to immigrate, and that's why the
forms were sent. So this lady asked my father to declare in a faxed
statement that he's the only applicant for Immigration, which was sent
immediately.
Now, one or two months later, we have received forms and requests for
my brother to go through fingerprinting and FBI security check in the
U.S. My brother does not have the time to do this, and frankly, I
don't understand why he should. My father's medicals will be 1 year
old in February, which doesn't give us much time. I have faxed the
immigration center again, explaining the situation, with no response.
Any advice/suggestions/relevent experiences?
Thanks, Babak
