Default N400 Processing Los Angeles (425 days?)

Hello All,

I just got the notice of action from the California Center (Laguna Niguel).
It stated my priority date (March 15, 2004).

The notice said the date and place of my interview will be scheduled by the
local INS office, and it should be within 425 days (about 17 months).

I pressume the "425" is typical? I went to the webpage and checked the waiting
periods at the LA office. Based on my web page interviews are scheduled about
6 months after the priority date.

Any people who went through the N-400 process in LA? Care to share your
experiences?

Thanks.
Johanes

Hey Johanes:

This is my N-400 in Los
Angeles proper so far:

mailed out N-400: 09/26/03
check cashed by CIS:
10/01/03
Notice of Action received
with priority date 09/29/03:
10/11/03
2nd Notice of Action received with Fingerprinting date for
11/15/03: 10/24/03.
Did my Finger printing: 11/15/03 at 10am

Status
disappeared from USCIS case status online on 02/26/04.
Received Notice
of Action with Interview Appointment for April 20, 2004 on 02/27/04.

My
interview will be in Santa Ana. My first Notice of Action with the
priority date had the same number: 425 days.

Typically for this type of number, it has virtually no relation to reality.
It is a figure apparently made up from whole cloth.

I have heard that for oath ceremonies occurring right now in Los Angeles,
the processing time from filing N-400 to swearing-in is about 9 months.
