Default N-400: One year since interview, still waiting!

Hi! I had my N-400 interview in Nov. of 2002 and am still waiting for
my oath. Went to the local congressman and they said that my
application is pending FBI clearance.

Does anyone know how long this takes normally and what I can do about
this unusual wait? I'm waiting to get my citizenship so that I can
adopt internationally and have been very frustrated waiting...

Please help!! Thanks.

WEclome on board

one word for you Is : patience

that's the only thing that will keep you sane otherwise you will go
crazy with the USCIS bureaucratic mess and delay

you have two option

1) wait until you get somethin in the mail ( the waiting mya be very
very long )

2) fill a civil action known as a "writ of MANDAMUS" (you will still
have to wait for your case to go in front of a federal judge )

a lawyer may wont to charge you between 800and 1500 $ to take your case
, they will invoke all the paper work and research and other BS

you can fill the civial action yourself as a PRO SE and save some
money you just need to pay the 150$ filling fee you still need to have
some knowledge in the civil action procedure and follow the local
rules of the court

botton line it's a waiting game either way

very long , you will be opening your mail box everyday hoping that
it's finally the day )

2) fill a civil action against the the USCIS known as a "writ of

So this cleared as far....It doesn't matter where You lived last few years
if You have any islamics roots. I never heard about any one who is orginaly
from Europe (born there) and had such a problem like You

"Islamic roots" are not the only ones facing inordinate delays, there are
many Chinese and Russian nationals, both men and women, in the same boat as
these guys.
