Default My mother has been denied her Long Stay Visitor Visa. Need advice.

My mother has been denied her Long Stay Visitor Visa (LSVV) from
Australian High Commission in Bangladesh. This is the second time she
has been denied within 4 months. I am seeking advice from you guys on
what my best options are in pursuing her case further.

Here are the chronologies of events.

1. My mother was granted her visitor visa (from Bangladesh) for 6
months. Accordingly she visited us on May 2004 for 6 months. Our child
was born during that time which was one of the reasons for her visit.
2. She went back to Bangladesh. 2 months later (Jan 2005) she applied
for a visitor visa again (this time for 1 year). This time has been
denied. She was told by DIMIA that her financial sponsor (which was
me) did not provide a convincing financial statement therefore her
application has been rejected. This is totally ridiculous as I have
shown AUD $14,000+ in my bank account, my salary statement (a
permanent job as a software engineer). DIMIA stated that majority of
the $14,000 has been transferred to my account in the past 20 days

I am not being harsh but my idea is, as ur mother had stayed 2 months
more than the visa date (this is what i get from your mail) ... it may
be the reason dimia not granting the VISA. And they are not bothering
to tell you that ur mother may going to stay for more than visa dates.
I think DIMIA assume that your mother again going to stay for longer
than allowed if visa granted

Hello Sha - Sorry if I didn't make this clear earlier.
My mother did not overstay her visa. She was granted visa for
6 months (first time around) and she left Australia well
before 6 months. In fact, she never breached any DIMIA laws till date.

Thanks :)

George, thanks for your valuable advise :)

Its comforting (in a weird way I guess!) to know that
I am not the only one suffering such decisions
out of Australian HC in Bangladesh. I am still unclear
what is the reason behind such harsh decisions. It feels
as if we (whoever applying from Dhaka) are at mercy of the
DIMIA officers in Dhaka - be it unjust or unfair.

I am extremely confident that I have a strong case.
The only thing is, if I go through MRT, it might take
18 months or so. However, I do not want to waste
my time pursing other avenues if MRT is the best
shot I have (as you have advised).

Speaking of seeing an MP, I am in Canberra.
Not sure who is my MP yet, but I am considering
giving that a shot as well.

Really appreciate your advise!!!

Hey George! What a nice attempt! Surprised to see your posting. You
wrote almost perfect Bengali. I know that you know the meaning of those
two words. Hope your good advice and your sympathy will help Khaled to
overcome the frustration.
