Yangon - Kengtung (Kyaing Tong) - Yangon
Day 1 YANGON - KENGTUNG BY FLIGHT
On arrival at Kengtung Airport, transfer to the hotel. Sightseeing in
Kengtung includes: Shan lacquer ware, tourists who are fond of lacquer-ware
can purchase desirable lacquer-ware of high quality; the Standing Buddha
Image, the very place where Kengtung was founded about one thousand years
ago and a hot springs spa. Enjoy sunset on the One Tree Hill where a 245
years old Kanyin-byu tree ( Diptero car pus Sp. ) stands. And then come back
to the pottery village " Yan Gon " to observe the handicraft earthen pots by
the Shan tribe. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 KENGTUNG - MONG ZINE ( KHUN VILLAGE ) - KENGTUNG
After breakfast, visit Water Buffalo Market, where buyers and sellers stand
around seemingly doing nothing but sales are transacted quietly. The market
is situated on the left hand side of the road, leaving Kengtung for Taunggyi
in the south of the town. The twice-weekly market excites considerable
interest, because water buffalos are not found in many countries. Then take
a car trip about 50 minutes and take a trekking trip about one and half
hours to arrive at typical Akha village called " Ho Kyin ". From there,
continue for another 30 minutes to Na Phi Phank village, where Lahu and Akha
tribes live together. From there, walk to Phata Akha village and to " Pang
Ma Phai " Akha tribe village to learn more about their daily life. Then
drive to Mong Zine ( Khun Village ) to see traditional Lahu swords made by
Lahu blacksmiths. On the way back to the hotel, visit Joe Phyu Wa Village.
Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 KENGTUNG - PIN TAUK - KENGTUNG
After breakfast at the hotel, drive for about 45 minutes for a hiking tour
into the Pin Tauk area. Visit the villages of the Ache and the Enn tribes
some are baptized and some still animists. The Enn are an ethnic group which
tourists have found particularly interesting, labeling them the " Black
Teeth ". The walk is not difficult and can be done slowly. They live on the
higher slopes. They wear distinctively different costumes, and they believe
differently from the other tribes. It will take about 4 hours to visit the
village. Enjoy lunch at Pin Tauk Water-fall. Return to Kengtung in the
evening. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 KENGTUNG - MONG LA - WAN SENG - KENGTUNG
After breakfast at the hotel, full-day excursion to Lwe tribe village. Drive
for about 2 hours on the road to Mong La, a border town on the Chinese
Border. From there, it will take a one and half-hour hike to Wan Nynt
village, one of the Lwe tribe villages. The Lwe prefer to live in a huge
long house, including at least 5 families. Before visiting the Lwe tribe
village, there is an old monastery, a very beautiful one and very different
from the other monasteries. One hour from there is another Lwe village ( Wan
Seng ). Scenery is beautiful and hiking is not difficult. Return to Kengtung
in the evening. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 5 KENGTUNG - YANGON BY FLIGHT
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to central market, which bustles daily
from 6:00 to 11:00 in the morning. The market offers products from China &
Thailand, and also it has local traditional clothing, antiques, coins and
other things for making good souvenirs. Then proceed to Naung Tong Lake and
the Wat Jom Kham Pagoda, where sacred hair relic of the Lord Buddha is
enshrined. Then transfer to Kengtung Airport for flight to
Universal Tours & Travel Co., Ltd.
