Default Mr. Miller Please(Visitor Visa)

Hi Mr. Miller:

i am international student in Canada. My visitor visa is about to
expire. I have a quick question:

Can I apply for renewal of my visitor visa at the Los Angeles Office
(due to its shortest processing time of around 7 days)? i will be
sending my passport through mail. I have heard people usually apply to
seattle, detroit and buffalo office for getting visitor visa.

i will be looking forward to your advise.

Thanking you in advance for your reply.

What you need visitor visa for? You only need it if you are out of Canada
and need to re-enter. As long as you remain in Canada then you don't need
visitor visa - your valid study permit is all you need.

Thank you Mr. Miller for your advise. Actually, i am going to leave
canada after some time and for re-entering canada , i will need the
visitor visa. I plan to re-enter Canada after the expiry date on the
currently issued visitor visa. So could you please let me know if I am
eligible to apply at the Los Angeles office ?

Thank you once again in advance

Yes, you may try. Most likely there will be no problems, but there are no
guarantees that you won't be called for interview to LA. Do you have US
visa? If not then instead of saving time you may be risking a lot of lost
time. Your safest bet is to simply apply through the visa post where you
originally applied for TRV and study permit.

Default Mr. Miller Please(Visitor Visa)

Thank you very much Mr. Miller for your quick replies. I really
appreciate your suggestions.

I just happened to check one thing from the LA website at the
following link.http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/can-am/...cat=1013&typ=1

It says"
Our office is responsible for processing applications for persons
resident in the following States: California, Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada,
Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas."

I am currently residing in Canada. So considering the above statement
, Can I still apply for renewal of visitor Visa at the LA office?

I look forward to receiving your valuable opinion. Thanking you in
advance.

Steven

Again, you can try. Fact that you are "shopping" for faster office may also
trigger interview.

There is no "renewal" of visitor visa - you are applying for new TRV
(visitor visa).
