Default Moving to Australia

Hi

Just like to say what a great forum this is and how helpful people
are on here.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post but i was
wondering if anyone could help me. I am nearly 17 and currently doing a
Plumbing apprenticeship here in England. I hope to complete this and in
3 years time open my own small plumbing firm here in England. With the
relevant experience behind me at about 23-25 i hope to move to
Austrailia and continue the business. Is there anything extra that will
need doing in Austrailia to make it a success and is there any hidden
snags in making the move. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Kev

Hi Kev

Your bigest problem is going to be getting your trade recognised
by the relevant body in stralia.

Start keeping a record of all your
training and courses you attend and all the people you work for
including contact details.
If possible collect references as you go
along this will save a lot of trubble later

Hi Kev,
Make sure the references are not general statements but truly
discribe what you do etc, have a look at the website of Trades
Recognition Australia : ]http://www.workplace.gov.au/Workplace/WPDi-
splay/0,1280,a0%253D0%2526a1%253D517%2526a2%253D529,00.h tml[/url]
I was
advised by the TRA that an employer statement never runs out of date
just as long as it is printed on company letterhead paper (all pages!)
and shows the name, contactdetails and the position of the person
signing it. If you are self employed you could have some
clients/affiliates write statements discribing the jobs you did for them
and attach their bussiness card etc.

I think it's great that you
already know what you want at 17 and that you are studying, working hard
and collecting information to reach your goal. I could hit myself on the
head for not asking references 10 years ago and throwing away old
contracts, wageslips etc...

Good luck and you will get there!
