Hi,
I'm from the UK and we're about to move to Melbourne in early
September this year. On our Channel 5, they are starting to show live
Major League Baseball games once a week on a Sunday night from
tomorrow. Each game starts around 12 midnight and finishes around 5
am. Can I ask if there's any interest in Oz for this sport and if so
what channel shows it, how many times per week and what time are the
games shown.
BTW I'm a NY Yankees fan.
Thanks.
Neil

Hi - Rugby and AFL are the
main sports over there, probably followed closely by cricket. Don't
think I ever met anyone who played baseball (just softball).
Someone
who's living out there currently might be able to tell you more. Or you
could have a look on their equivalent to Sky Sports, see what that
brings up for ya!:D

You might see it on cable TV. It is not shown on Free To Air. Most
Australian would put baseball in the same excitement category as watch
the America's Cup or watching paint dry.

Major League baseball gets slots on Foxtel Sports and on ESPN, both of which
are available on cable or satellite TV. As others have said - there's not
much interest in baseball generally - so only headline items make it to the
free to air TV sports coverage.
