Default Miami area hotels

I am looking to spend a week in the Miami area and would love help
finding a great hotel. Cost is not a factor. I usually go to the
Caribean but my friends want to stay in the country this year..with
that being said--THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to me is the beaches. I am
looking for a place with great beaches! Lots of sand, the whiter the
better, the less people the better, preferably a full service hotel
that provides chairs with cushions and drink service. SECONDLY i am
young and single and don't want to be around kids..so an adult place
with little to no kids is my second most important criteria..and
thirdly (but also important) is the pool. I am looking for a nice
pool. Big and maybe even more than one. I have listed things in
order of preference...if you could give me suggestions on South Beach
hotels AND hotels within a 60 minute radius i would be OH SO GRATEFUL.
Thanks.

For luxury and location you couldn't do much better than The Delano
(http://www.ianschragerhotels.com/home.html).

The country? Why in the world would anyone want to do that? The country
area around Miiami is mostly residential or mosguito-ridden; there's
nothing there that would interest tourists. Your friends are nuts.
Consider one of the many beach-side resorts in South Beach Miami. You
will all enjoy yourselves. There are many to chose from. Just check your
favorite hotel search engine. I like expedia.com for hotel finding.

The Fontainebleau, of course - but I don't know how much you'll be able to
experience 'less people, the better' during the tourist season. When did
you plan to make this trip?

By country, I believe he meant U.S.A.

I think she is right. You can probably find a nice beach side resort
and now is the perfect time of year to go. I would also say that it
probably isn't a very big time for family vacations, simply because
kids just finished their holiday vacations and are back in school. I
just booked a vacation last week and got a really good hotel deal on
Orbitz. I think they are having a sale right now and it might be
worth checking out. Good luck and have a great time!

I agree with TGreen. I think right now is the best time to go and
there won't be that many kids there. You should def check out Orbitz
for hotel fares. I've gotten so many good deals on hotels through
them. Saved tons of money! Have fun in Miami..I"m soo jealous, I wish
I could go right now!

If cost is not a factor, why not stay in Palm Beach? These are elegant
old hotels there that definitely have a no children policy. They are
right on the beach with their own limited access beaches. Lately, Palm
Beach has had an influx of young people with mega bucks.

In Miami, why not give the Cardozio in South Beach a try? The hotel is
very posh and owned by Gloria Estafan and her husband Emillio. The room
rates alone will filter out most families.

too and cost is a BIG factor. Just a quick getaway - looking to do it
inexpensively.
I'll be going alone (to get out out this xx'ing cold in Boston) and "want to
play tourist" in Miami Beach. (small enough to see it all for a short trip
?) I go fishing a few times a year in the Keys - but have only ever had
lunch/spent the afternoon at Miami Beach.

I have the AAA book in front of me looking for hotels, but have been looking
around for second opinions on the net and most (if not all) of the
reasonably priced places have reviews like "disgusting", "horrifying", "
"dirty sheets - hair still on the bed", "I forfeited my pre-payment to NOT
stay there" etc . (tripadvisor.com especially)

I'm not one of the beautiful people and will NOT be going to the clubs at
1AM as seen on the travel channel. Just to play tourist - see the beaches
(Sunny Isles, Haulover, Miami, South Beach) and any landmarks - maybe Key
Biscayne .
I'd like suggestions of :
1. where to stay :
-- a clean, quiet room at $75-$100/night (with 'un-snowy' TV channels for
news, or a rainy night). Don't care about a pool.
-- a restaurant onsite or nearby ( I like spicy food - any suggestions?)
-- FREE parking ( I see the range from free to $30/night, but can't
figure out a scheme)
-- I'm thinking I'll find this more towards FLL / Miami Beach/north as
opposed to South Beach
--- How about a "guesstimate of safe areas" like 'stay on xyz street
between 60th and 92nd streets'. Don't go near B st etc
-- Should I stay "in the suburbs" and commute each day. If so, where ? Bus,
cab,etc ?
-- Or not get a car at all - stay at the beach and "depend on tours" - I'm
sure they exist at/near the hotels.

2. What to do /see ?:

I've only ever cruised Collins Ave to stop for lunch on my ways to the Keys.
and would like to get familiar with Miami Beach.

Opinions ? I'm thinking 4-5 days. How many days to allow ?
or for a 4-5 day trip what to see /skip ?

Thanks,
Bobb

Outisde of Miami Beach, you should pay a visit to the Vizcaya Estate in
Coral Gables. It's a beautiful location. http://www.vizcayamuseum.com/
