Hi,
From Andrew Miller's reply (thanks for that) to my earlier post I
understand that medical testing before you emigrate is fairly
comprehensive.
I want to know how they ascertain an accurate medical history. Do they
just go by what you tell them, or do they require your GP to intervene
on your behalf and confirm, in writing, that you are in good health? It
occured to me that not all conditions are easily diagnosed by blood work-
ups and X-Rays, and I wondered what prevents people from saying that
they are in perfect health when they are not.
On the issue of sponsorship, my understanding is that after achieving PR
status you can sponsor relatives to come and live in Canada, but,
understandably, you have to be financially responsible for them. My
question is, do these responsibilities extend to health care or does the
state provide for this?
What about the question of emergency health care? For example, if a
family member was in Canada for a few weeks/ months and he or she
required emergency medical attention, would that be provided free by the
Canadian health service or would all the bills be the sponsor's
responsibility?
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.
