Hi everyone,



I was just talking to my fiancee, and she seems to think that we'll get
decent medicial insurance once I get a job. What i'm wondering is what
to do in the interim?



Could I take out 6 months travel insurance here in the UK under the
pretense of a extended holiday? Or are they wiser than that?



I'm just wondering whats the best way to go about it. My fiancee has a
policy through her parents that covers her, but not me. So i'm on my own
until I find a job. So whats the best way to go about getting medical
insurance for say 6 months at a rate thats not going to kill me?



What have other expats done in my place?

Hi James,

We went to http://www.temporary-health-insurance.net/ and got
60 days of medical insurance until John was on my insurance at work.

Utmost good faith (uberrima fides in Latin) applies to virtually all
insurance contracts entered into in the UK. So you must ask yourself
whether you would be happy with a piece of paper that could possibly be
of no value whatsoever at a time when you needed cover the most.

Your right its not worth it. I'll have to take out a private policy when
I get there.

Is she on the parent's policy, or did she get the policy in her own name
through the COBRA provisions? If she is on a parent's policy, she may
not be eligible to stay on it once she is married. In other words, you
may be shopping for a husband and wife policy once you are married.

Oh yeah. I remember my mother telling me this when I was still in
college. As long as I was single, I was considered her dependent, and
could remain on her policy. If I was to get married, I would immediately
be terminated from her policy because I would be considered an adult,
not my mother's dependent. You should tell her to look into this Jimbo.
