Default May I travel without the document called permanent resident travel abroad?

I just landed lately, but I haven't got my permanent residence card
yet. Currently, I still hold a valid single entry visa to Canada, which
was obtained during my PR application. My question is: Am I permitted
to return to Canada after Dec. 31st, 2003 with the single entry visa or
an application of a document called "permanent residence travel abroad"
is a must?

You cannot come back using a visitor (temporary residence) visa. You will
need the PR card or a facilitation visa to leave and return after December
31st, unless you are travelling to the USA only.

Hi all

So If you travel from US to Canada you do not need PR Card? Even by plane, bus...
