Make sure you understand what you are paying for as well. The fees for
the various applications can cost closte to $1000, which doesn't leave
much over for any attorney costs.
We hammer you with all this detail based on others' past experiences--so
you don't have to learn the hard(er) way.

It IS a very good idea for you to understand what it is you'll be doing.
What if your lawyer gets hit by a bus? Anyway, it is YOUR life and
future on the line, get a bit of the lingo down and ask your lawyer to
clarify a couple of things for you.

yes its definetly a learning process, I am learning as much as I can by
reading up and also on certain forums.
We will definetly be calling him on Monday, we already left a message.
The lawyers fees are on TOP of the application costs.. so it will cost
us about $3000... worth it though!

You can save 1800$ without the lawyer. He does nothing but fills
everything. Plus he gets into the interview with you and just
stands there.

I did not use a lawyer for our immigration process, but I disagree with
what you say.

I just used a real estate attorney for a purchase/sale of a house. He
didn't "do" anything except talk to me and fill in a form, but I
wouldn't have done it without him.

If people have the TIME it takes to research everything they need to
know, fine. I did, at immigration time.
If time is short, like the RE deal, pay for someone who knows what's
what already. This OP is on short time; it's not fair to second guess
her choice (which is for HER life).

Business wise, i always use attorney. That's the best way to do a safe
business. But immigration wise no need. If it's a weird case, I
recommend but if not just grab the pen and photocopy everything and
send. Give me that 1800$ i'll write your info

I filled up all our immigration forms and prepared all the needed documents on my own without a lawyer. Just bought this kit showing a step by step way how to filled up the forms for $ 50.00... I didnt even research about it since I didnt knw this forum yet. I got my GC in 3 months without any problem.

I am not saying having lawyer is not good but I think it can save you alot of money if you will just be thorough and read over and over your application.

Best Regards. .

On the other hand, there are lots of people out there who consider
their futures and their families' futures just as important -- probably
more so -- than any business they might own. And for that they might
feel it's worth paying to have a professional help walk them through
the process.

well our lawyer called us back this evening (on a saturday night... i
love that) and explained the situation. We will be able to get anybody
to sponsor us, which is great... it means that all is going a head well
so far.
No doubt i will be back.

The lawyer, although is expensive makes it a little less stressful for
us. I am freelancing for my job back in England full time and the other
half works full time, he is also at school.

a lawyer helps relieve that stress a little, some people can do it
without and we probably could if we tried. Its a lot of money i know but
it makes us feel a lot less stressed about the whole thing (although you
wouldnt think it reading this thread).

Also, that 1500 would pay for any appeals etc too. But yes, we probably
could do it without. The boyfriend (hubby in a couple of days!) is
adament we use a lawyer so he can bloody pay for it!

Sure, maybe to check in on what things you should ask your lawyer about.
