Default lost my marriage certificate

Something incredibly dumb happened today. I was en route to the DMV to
get my learner's permit when my bag was stolen in the bus.

Fortunately for me, I had my wallet in my coat pocket, so my EAD,
passport, credit cards are safe but in my handbag I had my marriage
certificate (as additional proof for the DMV)

What got stolen was:
"certification of vital record" (the state we got married in)
and the marriage certificate that was given to us at the Chapel where we
got married.

We got married in Nevada.
I fortunately still have in my possession the long marriage
certificate form with raised seal that was sent to us (the one I made
copies of while filing for AOS). Needless to say, I didn't have my AOS
interview yet and I am incredibly distressed. Will the long form be
OK, or did I need the other stuff? Just how screwed I am? Is it
possible to obtain any of the stuff I've lost back? Of course I do not
have photocopies of it.

I can't sleep over this.

Vivian :(

I don't know how it works in Nevada, but when we got married last week
here in Omaha, we got two forms. One was the official, certified, legal
marriage license and certificate. The other certificate was just a
"keepsake" with no legal standing.

Like Rete said, you have what you need so you can take a deep breath
and relax.

Plus if you need any more, from what I understand, you can just go back
to the courthouse and request more copies (just like if you need more
copies of your birth certificate).

yeap, they (marriage certificates) are just $5 a pop here in GA. You
can have as many as you want - I got three just in case.

No worries - Nevada has two forms, but they are both EASILY obtainable from
the county clerk recorder's office (we got married in vegas). $10 each, I
think. I ordered two extra copies of the long form, but you can also order
the short form..
