Default London to Oxford: Bus or Train?

I will be in the London during early January and plan to go to the Oxford
Science Museum for a day trip. I will be staying in South Kensington and
wish to know if bus or train travel would be best.

Thanks.

Train is more convenient but more expensive but I'd recommend it if you
intend to travel at peak times (7:30-9:30 and 4:30-7:30). The bus, called
the 'Oxford tube is however very reliable and very regular.

Either should be pretty easy. A train will be quicker but probably more
expensive (assuming you just turn up and buy your ticket on the day). The
train station is a little further out of Oxford city centre than the bus
station but neither's very distant.

Check http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/planmyjourney for train details and
http://www.gobycoach.com for bus details.

The train was really nice and convenient.

Might want to consider buying the Southeast pass from BritRail if
you'll be doing a couple of daytrips from London. It's actually
pretty convenient and did save us some money.

More accurately, the southeast Network Railcard, not a pass but a
discount card applicable to your entire party (if it's not too
large).

I forgot what it was called, but my Mom and I ended up buying each
individually. It's a discounted card that allows x number days in a
certain time period for travel in the English Southeast. It was
offered through BritRail in early 2000.
