Yay!!!! for his license

i think they're doing that now because of the expiration date on his
EAD...i think.
someone else might know more about it....
my hubby got his in sept. and doesn't expire until 2011...maybe they
made this law after he got his license.

Same here:), I got my driving license while on a J1 visa back in 2002

That's good that your license is good for so long. I have to get mine
renewed every 4 years in KY.

Ah, OK, so this "temporary status" thing goes with his EAD....the
license itself says it doesn't expire until 2008, by the
way........After searching the NYS DMV site, it would have been legal
for him to drive without a licensed driver to accompany him, with his
International License, and NYS driver's permit, FYI. Thanks, guys!

Hey. My NYS license says the same thing, and I've had my AOS approved. I
haven't questioned it yet, because I haven't felt like dealing with the
hassle that is the DMV again so soon. I'm going to go there on Tuesday
and speak with them about it and find out exactly what that is supposed
to mean.. especially in my case where I am NOT really a temporary
visitor - I'm a permanent resident!
