Default is this normal...

Hi folks - just a quickie. I sent my 47Sk application form to the DIMIA
and they have taken the application fee out of our bank on the 14 Jan'04
but, I haven't had any acknowledgement from them that they have actually
received the documents, let alone a case number... is this normal
procedure..?

Sounds about right, when did you submit your app.

At least you know its arrived if they have debited your account

Yes this does happen and there has been a few threads on this.

DIMIA does say it can take them upto 6-8weeks or whatever it is to
acknowledge your application. After this period has or is about to
expire, send them an email explaining that you have no
acknowlegment. Hopefully they will confirm acknowledgement and give
you your file number.

Once you get the date it will help you count the weeks go by and share
your frustrations on the forum.

Good luck.

I was just wondering the same thing - my 139 designated visa app went in
and charge went on my credit card 10th Jan but I haven't had an
acknowledgement - yet a friend had hers a week after? I find being
patient so difficult!

I just got my subclass 137 visa granted after over 9 months, and I
never received an acknowledgment. My credit card was debited the day
after they received my application in Adelaide, so no doubt they had
received it. I also used DHL to track all items that I sent to DIMIA,
so I knew exactly when they were delivered.

Hi,

I asked this Q a while agao and people replied stating dont worry. I
also spoke to my agency and they said its quite normal that it happens
and as long as the money has been taken from the account then you have
had it looked at and assigned a case number.

So, dont panic, even if you dont get ack. in a few months. Mine is about
3 1/2 months on now, and I know people have said on here that they have
obtained there visa without ever getting it which makes me confident
that everyone is right.

I applied for 137 STNI in early Dec 2003 from UK. I sent bank draft to pay
for application. Letter received back from DIMIA on 20/4/04 acknowledging
application, advising of my file reference number along with receipt for
cheque.
