Default Is it better to use an agent?

Currently applying for Visa without the use of an agent. Generally
does having an agent make the process any easier? Also do you need to
have used an agent from the start of the process or/ and can you
contact them if difficulties should arise? I really have no knowledge
of this and would be very grateful if any one can shed some light on
this.

Thanks
Diddy

I notice you are having your medicals soon. Were these Requested?

If so stop worrying you've obviously got it right so far.
If your
application is straightforward then an agent is not really necessary.

Good luck

Yes they were requested. So guess I must have filled in the right bits
so far. I was just wondering whether having an agent helps in any
respect. I am a bit apprehensive about the medicals. And wondered if
they went pete Tong agent might help.

You are worrying too much.
You have done it right
so far. There is not much more to do if your Meds,Character check and
police checks are OK.
Just relax and wait.Deal with any problems if they
crop up.
You are nearly there.

What is a 'character check' is that the stuff to do with past work
experience, and educational stuff?

Sorry I must be asking really basic
questions. But through out this process I have just muddled through but
have accumulated loads of questions. It is great to finally have other
people to talk to about all this stuff as it feels like such a big thing
to deal with. The paper work involved is prolific

Cheers

to worry about really.

Thank you again. I must have filled it all in. I really don't remember
all the form numbers at all. I am sure that if I missed anything that
I will soon be told.

Thanks all for help.

A friend of mine spent £1700 (the
fees are real high!) to get his visa. He now feels he paid for a
checklist/prompter - though he probably invested about 2 hours in total
in his application as a result! To be honest, if you have common sense,
a burning desire to go, and a serious investment in time (I really think
I invested at least 100 hours in the process), agents shouldn't really
be required, especially given how expensive they can be. I believe that
the most difficult part to achieve is the skills assessment. If that's
clear, and you've filled out 47SK as well as you can (and DIMIA do
respond to questions, no problem in my experience), you should be fine.

Jolly good, and with meds requested, you're grand!

Diddy - if your case is straight forward (clear meds and police
checks, no 'odd' combinations, not short on points etc) I would think
you could do it by yourself. This website is a wealth of information,
you only have to read the post's by people who used an agent and THEN
found this site to realise that most of them now feel they could have
done it without an agent.

I was exactly how you were about six weeks
ago, wondering how I was ever going to get through it and thinking about
using an agent, I'm now at the stage where all I have left to do is
certify my doc's and send them off. Now (I really hope I don't have to
eat my words here!) but I'm feeling fairly confident and I haven't used
an agent, nor have hundreds of other people that have got a visa. Like
the other replys to this post say, if you've got this far, you've
probably got through the hardest point already and you're doing just
fine :D

Keep smiling!

Hi, thanks for all the reassurance. I reckon that you guys are
right. I think that I am just thinking that if things do possibly
get a bit complicated - hey you never know - that agents might be
able to help. I think that I am the type of person that will be
nervous about the whole thing until it is done. I guess that we are
all pretty much in that position. Full or hope and nerves

But
finding this site is fantastic as I finally feel as though I have
found some like minded people.
