Default Interview required LA May 2003

I applied in May 2003. AOR in Nov. and another letter for employment
references and paystub on sep 30, 2003. I sent the required
information on Oct. 24, 2003.

I got a letter yesterday (in less then two weeks after I sent the
info.) with an interview call to be in LA with time line of 7-10
months.

Letter indicate that applicant and spouse both are required to attend
the interview. However, my wife is not in USA and my major reason to
immigrate to canada. If I appear alone in the interview with this
explaination can cause any problem for my case? they also sent me the
medical forms of both me and my wife to be done once I get the
interview date. Should I send the medical forms to my wife and let her
do medical there?

How much time is it taking right now for an interview to be schudeled
in LA.
Am I looking at another year or so for the whole process to finish?

Plz help me understand that.

thank you

It may be possible to go to interview without your wife, but officer won't
like it.

You may do medicals in US and your wife where she is.

I assume from your email address that you are a Pakistani - so, expect about
a year after selection decision (which will be made after interview) for the
rest of the process to conclude if things will be as slow as they are now
with background/security checks.

Mr.Miller,

Is it taking only 5 months if one applies from the US?

It was a typo - poster applied in May 2002, not 2003. As you can see from
the timeline he got AOR in November and later in September 2003 he was asked
for more documents. So, the AOR in November had to be in November of 2002,
November before September 2003 - thus application in May 2002. Read his post
again and analyze it carefully.

Thanks Andrew for your courteous reply.

I infact applied in May 2002. So It is approx. 1 1/2 year to get the
initial assessment and a letter for an interview in 7-10 months. The
speed @ which the things are moving, I can easily imagine that it will
be early 2005 for me to actually see any firm result (positive or
negative).

I am little surprised to get the interview call. I have solid
educational background, almost done with my C.P.A exam and with
employment references from 3 fortune 500 companies. I have lived in US
for over 15 years and a Pakistani citizen. My wife is a medical school
graduate and doing her post graduation in Pakistan.

My US citizenship application is currently in progress and there is a
good chance that i will become a U S citizen before becoming a
canadian PR. All this immigration fiasco just so that my wife can join
me after 4 years of marriage either in Canada or USA.

So far ir is a lose-lose situation for me with the extremely harsh
travel restrictions for one to fly out of Pakistan and into the
"civilized world", even for a woman to visit her husband who is a
legal resident for many years.

Cant wait to get my US citizenship and get out of this tons and tons
of "civilized discrimination" and unjust treatment based on national
origin.

Next time I sure wont pick a thirld world country to be born.
