Default Info for newcomer

We have recently applied for a visa (139) and have been following some
of the discussions on the forum.

Could someone explain why many people have sent medicals and police
checks unrequested? - Why unrequested?, what does this mean?

Once you send in your application the waiting game begins.... The
first sign that something is happening is when you get a request for
your medicals.

By sending them unrequested it essentially means that it can
potentially speed the visa process up if you imagine you would get the
request then book the medicals have the blood tests done all of which
can take a few weeks.

Hi Racketman.

There are three options for sending your PCCs and your medicals:
(i) Front-loading
(ii) Sending Unrequested
(iii) Waiting for formal request

Front-loading is when they are send with your visa application;
sending unrequested is, as it says, to send without them having been
requested, but after submitting your application. People use these
methods to try and speed up the processing of their visas; so that,
when the case officer is ready to request these checks, they will
already be there and so you are not waiting for an appointment with a
doctor, or waiting for your local police force to return your report,
plus the posting time etc.

Hope this helps.

All the best,
RT.

PS... Wargod's explanation was far simpler and more to-the-point than
mine (no surprise there for anyone who knows me..!! ;))

Cheers Wargod...!

Hi Racketman.

I have posted the answers to your email here on the public forum as they
will most probably be of assistance to other people...

Firstly, sorry for using abbreviations - I get so used to it that I
forget that people may not know the meanings. You are correct: PCCs are
"Police Clearance Certificates" and Meds are medical examination forms.

From your email address, I'm guessing you're in the UK. If so, you need
the following forms for your medicals: form 26 for the medical
http://www.australia.org.uk/vti/FORMS/26.pdf
and form 160 for the xray http://www.australia.org.uk/vti/FORMS/160.pdf

The doctor must be an approved panel doctor from this list:
http://www.australia.org.uk/vti/FORMS/DOCTORS.PDF

Our medicals for a family of four cost £430.

Re the PCCs: we downloaded a form from our local police force's
website which we used to request the certificate. The checks cost us
£10 per person.

I hope this answers your questions. If you need any further information,
the forum has a great 'search' facility where you can search for key
words. Alternatively, post any questions you may have on the forum -
this place is full of helpful and experienced people who are more than
willing to help.

All the best,
RT.
