Default In-Land sponsorship refused

I have been living in canada for almost one year when my wife and myself got a letter from CIC requesting for an interview. So we were interviewed and the immigration officer refused our application since she believes that the marriage is not genuine on several grounds. She told us that some of our statements were not similar. We have used the help of a lawyer for the issue but he said we will retry applying again or do an appeal. Im on a working visa at the moment and my only concern would be in a months time my work visa would be expiring and i need to renew. Would there be any issues with that or i can still renew the visa while im still waiting for an appeal or reconsideration of the case.

Please help...really scared!!!
