Default Immigration processing after Medical Exam

Hi, I have applied for Permanent Residence to Canada under skilled
worker class on October 2003. My visa office is in Buffalo, New York,
USA.

I received initial assessment of my application on 17th August 2004. As
per the assessment, my interview was waived and I was requested to
undergo medical examination and send landing fee. I completed medical
examination on 18th August 2004 from designated medical practitioners
and mailed my landing fee on 18th August 2004.

I have not received any information since then. My e-client application
status still shows in process even after doing medical examination on
18th August 2004.

I would appreciate if anyone can let me know duration it takes to
receive confirmation of permanent residence after completing medical
examination.

Did anyone receive Immigrant Visa in 2-3 months after taking medical
exam?

Should i send a letter to Consulate asking status of my case?
Thank you.

After interview was waived your background/security check has been
initiated. Depending from your background. nationality, associations,
activities, countries you resided in, etc. this task alone may take anywhere
from several months to well over a year to conclude.
