Default immigration

hi just wondering anyone been in the same prdicament as me. just
finished Bcomm in human resource managment and found out that i dont
have enough points to apply for PR and there is no way of going back
home because i come from a third world country and things are really
bad back home. my student visae expires 31/08/2004 and someone told me
that i could apply for the graduate visa so as to buy time to look for
a uni to do another course preferrably Registered nursing. is it
possible to get a student visa after applying for a graduate visa
