Hey Sobol,
Yes, I went there to ask, with an Infopass, more than one time, and I
recommend you to do the same.
The first time I went was around 12 weeks after the interview, I was so
shocked that I hadn't received my GC in the mail...they had told me that
everything was ok, and that I would receive it in a month!
They confirmed that the person who conducted the interview had approved
the I130 and that they had received the fingerprints, but they told me
that the background check was pending, and that it would take from six
months to a year.
Some months later, I made a written request following the
recommendations they gave me at the 1-800 line. They never answered.
When some more than one year had passed since then without any news, I
went there again, and my application had already been transferred to
California. They told me that there wasn't anything wrong with my
application, but just that they didn't have the means to perform all the
background checks, they were swamped and that's why they transferred my
app to California, with many others.
Sobol, this is what happened to me, but the same does not have to happen
to you, maybe mine was a very weird case. Maybe you will receive it in a
couple of weeks.
I just think that you should be just cautious, and if you don't
receive the GC after the six weeks, ask for an Infopass, go there,
ask about your case.
If they tell you that there is going to be a delay (in my case, they
told me so), file the EAD (and parole documents, if you want to
travel abroad).
I wish you best luck!
