Default I-131 to expire 3 years after leaving US

Hi,
I left the US in March 2002 and applied for Reentry Permit (I-131)
before leaving. Due to some glitches the processing took a long time
(1year+), and was finally approved in April 2003. The expiry date
specified on the approved I-131 is in April 2005. Does it mean that I
can enter US in 2005, even though the 2-year limit (if calculated from
the date of departure) would expire in March 2004 ?

SC

PS: legal status: Permanent Resident
