Default How much is medical insurance for aged parents?

Hi,

Can anyone give me a rough idea regarding cost of medical insurance? I
have had a look at some websites but it is complicated to understand,
especially as I have never had health insurance.

If my parents happen to apply for the aged parents visa onshore, they
wont be granted medicare whilst in the very long queue. So will they
have to take medical insurance or do they have to 'pay as you go'? What
would be the minimum cost, and does it include dental?

Many thanks

Cherry

While not exactly "aged" we had to get insurance for a -410 visa:
just under $2000 for the two. But the cover is pretty minimal -
ISTR $30k p.a.

Even if not legally compulsory, medical insurance is highly advisable.
What would you do otherwise if there was a major health scare?

When checking medical insurance prices, make sure the policy terms do
not assume Medicare eligibility as many policies geared to the needs
of Australians do. You should be checking the policies offered to
retirement visa holders as a guide.
