how long for 1130 to be approved frm vermont

i'm over 21, unmarried and a uk citzen. my dad is a usc, has been for
years. he filed a 1130 back in oct 2001. how long does it take to get
approved, and then till i get my greencard. it seemed to have slowed
down since 911. is anyone in the same situation.please give advice or
hope. thanks

It's not so much that things have slowed down necessarily, but you
aren't eligible yet for the Green Card. In addition to the regular
'can't get enough staff to process the petitions' backlog, there's a
backlog in the sense that only a fixed number of people in your
category can get Green Cards. At present (December 2003), in order to
be eligible your father needs to have applied before July 15 2000.

I would say that you should expect to become eligible sometime in
2005, and USCIS will probably approve your application sometime after
that. Of course, if you marry in the meantime you should expect to
have to wait an additional three or four years.
