Default How do I become a US permanent resident?

I am in the United States on a student visa. My wife of 3 years is a
lawful US permanent resident.

Here are my two options:

1. apply for permanent residency while my wife is a permanent resident
or
2. apply for permanent residency when my wife is a US citizen (which
will happen late this year).

My questions are:

1. what steps (forms) do I need to do to become a permanent resident
while my wife is still a permanent resident and how long will the
process take?

2. what steps (forms) do I need to do to become a permanent resident
when my wife is a US citizen and how long will the process take?

Thanks in advance.

Regards...

I'd wait until she becomes a USC then apply, this is what I did
and will take shorter amount of time.

Go to the local INS Office and ask them an AOS packet, that's
your best bet. You can also go to the website someone posted
earlier (in response to your question) and download the forms
(I-485, etc)

Again, when your wife becomes a USC, it will take you anywhere
from 1-2 years to become a PR.

What City do you live in ?

Good Luck!

assuming you both live in the US:
