Im a newbie to this so I hope you guys would be able to help me out. I was browsing the internet looking for information about de facto applications for oz. Im a Malaysian and have been with my bf, Reece (hes australian) for a little more than 6 years now. We met on the internet in 1999 when we were still in uni. and we've been going out shortly after that. i went to perth to visit my uncle and meet him and after that, we visited each other yearly. I finished uni after 3 years and went to perth for 6 months. lived with my uncle but reece was over all the time and i went over to his place heaps as well.

i am planning to settle in perth and since i am required to do my postgraduate studies in perth, i would have to pay a lot of money for the fees. as i was unable to work or get any kind of visa that would allow me to seek employment, we came to a dead end. I had to leave perth for home and after a month, i left home and came to england in september 2003. I am still in England at the moment, working and travelling. In February this year, Reece came to join me here after graduating in December 04.

We decided that its time we start preparing for the de facto application and start gathering all available evidence etc. We are planning to apply this December. However, that would only be 9 months of us living together here in england continuously. Can we use the 6 months of my time in Perth and the yearly meetings we had for 4 - 8 weeks each time?

we have not done anything so far and we are in desperate need of as much information as possible with regards to this whole process. Can we apply for it in England? or anywhere else in Europe (as they do not hold interviews in London anymore)?

can anyone please help us? we are to open to any kind of advise/ guidance/direction as we really need help! any information would be greatly appreciated!!

All I can suggest is read the rules on www.immi.gov.au or speak to a migration agent. Good luck
