Default Help needed British Pension

hello, I am new to this forum, and urgently seeking advice for a lady who is in dire straits. She will be 65 next month, and believes that she would not qualify for a Brit pension, as she was a student nurse with the nhs before emigrating (on her own) to Canada. I think that nhs students at that time actually earned while they studied, so she would have paid at least something into the national insurance. She is at present in a very bad situation, and I would like to give her at least some hope of at least some extra income. Would really appreciate any help, thank you.
