Help: Consular processing - 221(g)

Hi,

I am on H1-B and am currently at the last stage of GC process:
consular processing. Last week I had the consular processing
interview at Australia. The consulate officer told me that all my
supportive documents are fine but he declined it temporarily with the
reason of 221(g). He said they need to check my criminal records in
US which takes time.

From what I heard from lawyers and friends, if all documents are fine,
they got approve the same day of interview. Secondly, the officer
said they've checked my criminal records(which is clean) from US
already. Why do they do it again? What are they actually trying to
do? Now it has been 10 days and I am unable to go back US to resume
by job. They said I need to wait for their call and I can't reach
them to check status! Anyone has experience on this?

A 221(g) refusal is due to either lack of documentation/information or
because further review needs to be conducted on a particular case.

I also have a 221(g) on my passport/application, its been 6months now
and all I can do is wait until my security clearance process is cleared.

well, consular processing will probably deteriorate now and will become like
AOS, which
takes several years. more good news.
