Default HELP; Embassy in Rome asked to transfer funds while refusing to attest signature card

Dear all,

I have been successfully through immigration process under "skilled
professionals" category. Now, visas are ready to be issued but
immigration section of Canadian embassy in Rome, Italy is asking for
proof of resettlement funds. I have got in my checking account in an
Italian bank more than the required money but embassy has verbally
asked me to transfer funds to a Canadian bank in an on-trust account.
I have contacted many banks in Canada but all (except RBC, which is
accepting legally notarized docs that I have already sent, now waiting
for their reply) say that it is only possible after due attestion of
two ID documents by the embassy. I have twice written to embassy about
this problem. Few days back, I got a phone call from embassy and I was
told they are not going to attest signature card or any thing of that
sort.

Now, I am in a catch 22 situation. I have intentionally let my work
contract elapse and packed-up everything in Italy. But, with this
hurdle on my way I am comprehensively stuck. Each day adds to my
frustration.

Is there any one who might be having any info that could be useful in
this case? All help welcome.....group experts are, too, most welcome.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Normallt Trade Representatives of that Country (Canada) in foreign
countries do this kin dof job if requested by a Canadian institute.
Embassy will not do this,,,,try with the Trade representative or the
commerce section.

If that doesnt work, ask RBC if an Italian Notary would work with an
affidavit from you.

Good luck

Thanks a lot for your info. I shall soon try to contact them. I am
still keeping my fingers crossed that RBC accepts notarized documents
that I have sent. Canadian banking laws have been made tough lately.
Thanks once again.

Have the document notarized and then take the notarized form to the
embassy's consular section for attestation.

Dear Mr. Humphries,
Thanks a lot for your posting. Actually, I have already got my docs
witnessed and attested by Italian notary service. There is no point
going to consular section as they refused to extend any help in this
regard. I talked to them on phone about getting my docs attested by
them. But, for reasons unknown, they are trying to shun this option.
Do you think they are justified in doing so? Should I seek legal help
from an immigration expert? My case is all done and according to their
own letter visas are ready to be issued pending transfer of funds.
Even on the phone call they acknowledged that I have required funds in
my Italian bank account, but they insisted this was not sufficient to
fulfill their condition of transfer of funds.
Thanks once again.
MR
