Default Has anyone had a Spouse Visa Interview?

Hello there..

I was wondering if anyone that now lives in australia or have received
their Spouse visas, have had to go to an interview with anyone here in
the UK to decuss the authenticity of their relationship?

If anyone could answer this it would be wonderful!

thanks guys

When I got mine, May last year, you could make an appointment at Oz
House - I turned up with all my papers expecting a real grilling about
our relationship, but all I was asked was where did we meet and when did
I intend to leave the UK. And that was done more in the line of a chat
while she osrted out the papers.
Haven't heard of anyone on here from the UK being called for an
interview, and thats going back nearly 2 years now.

I had no interview and I got mine in June this year.

Some couples have recieved a phone call to the Autralian half but not
many. They called my Aussie hubby but that was after the visa was
granted to confirm the address we would be living at in AUstralia.

Cheers

Hi Jessica & James,
My hubby had his spouse visa through in August and we weren't asked to
attend an interview. I though we might be asked coz I'm a duel Oz/UK
citizen and haven't lived in Oz since I was 4 yrs old. I still had to
sponsor my hubby even though I don't live or work in Oz and they didn't
question how I would support him, or ask us to prove our savings etc.
I've also read on here that some people who frontload their spouse visa
applications, got their spouse visa through within a week.
Good luck

Hi Shell

How long did it take for your visa to be granted from when you sent it?
Did you apply in London? We sent ours yesterday so they haven't even
received it yet but I am already anxiously awaiting a response !!

Cheers

Did you front load?

I did and it took 3 weeks in May/June. I'm not sure what people are
waiting at the mo.

Have a look at www.austimeline.com you can search for others who have
applied for the same visa around the same time as you.

Cheers

Hi P,
Our visa got delayed due to my hubby's ex refusing to arrange their
daughters medical. We also didn't front load our application. We sent
off the app and all the info regarding our relationship and waited for
the Australian High Comission in London to contact us. They sent us the
medical applications and details regarding the police checks within 1
week. We arranged the medicals and got the police check done within 2
weeks and sent those back. If it hadn't been for the delay then in
getting the ex to do my step-daughters medical, the visa would have been
granted within a week of the AHC receiving all the medical/police info.
So if we hadn't had this delay, the visa would probably of been granted
within 4 weeks of the initial application being received.
Other people on here who front load their applications by sending in the
medicals/police check etc with the initial application have got their
spouse visa's within a week.
Where in Oz are you heading? We are off to Brisbane as soon as the
house sells!!!! We also made the mistake of waiting for the visa to be
granted before putting the house up for sale. My advice is, if you have
a house to sell and you're hoping to go to Oz soon - put it up for sale
ASAP, coz the visa won't take long (as long as your medicals etc are ok)
and you'll be stuck trying to sell the house like us - very
frustrating!!!
Good luck and let me know how you get on.

Hello,

I applied for de facto spouse visa front loaded back in June. I
received a phone call 10 days later from AHC saying the visa has been
approved, but he wanted to ask me some questions about our
relationship etc. He wanted to know how we met why we were going back
to Oz, what my family thought of me moving etc (as I am English and my
boyfriend is Australian). I was on the phone with this guy for about
20 mins and that was it. He explained what would happen next and my
date of entry is determined from when I had my medicals which was end
of Jan. He also told me that I would have to reapply for the permanent
visa 2 years fromn aplying for this visa (which makes it June 06). The
guy was really friendly and chatty. He called the day before my
birthday, so it was a nice surprise.

By the way, Shell.. I know how you are feeling... we are trying to
sell our house at present and no takers... the market has slowed down
somewhat! We are planning to move over in Jan 05 but be out of the
house by end of Nov (Xmas with my family etc), but I'm worrying we
won't sell it by then! I agree that I should have put it on the market
when I first received the visa.... we live and learn!!! Good luck with
selling yours!

Emma.

We posted hubby's app off on 10th Sept this year. Medicals were done and
couriered through by doctors on same day. We were waiting for PCC which
arrived the following Monday so posted that off immediately.
We are now anxiously awaiting some news from AHC. We have however,
pointed out that Hubby is flying to Perth Sept 30th till Oct 9th as his
prospective bosses are flting him out so they can meet him. So we
suspect they are going to delay approving the visa till after this.
However, it's still a nail-biting wait.
We hadn't heard of anyone being called in for appointments for
interviews. But then neither had we heard anyone say about the phone
calls before. It'd be quite nice if they did as this would be a positive
response.
Will post again if any news comes through in the near future. Or when he
gets his visa.
Just can't wait really. Once he's home from Perth we can make plans as
to when we'll leave. I'm definitely going home in Jan but it'd be nice
if he was coming at the same time. But if not he'll come later on.
