H1 B Visa Stamping Help...Where should I go ?
Hi All,
Brief Overview of my situation:
I am an Indian national with a recently acquired Australian permanent
residency.
I work for a big global company and am on H1B (approval). I want to
get a H1B Visa stamped and have the following options. Each of the
options have their pros and cons and although on paper i should be
fine on either it is safer route that I want to take and would like
your suggestion on .
option 1
Go to Canada and get it stamped there:
Pro: All of my fellow employees have done this with ease and have
faced no issues. Seems like H1B vias stamping on exsisting approval is
a BAU (Business as usual) at the US consulates in canada.
Con: "I do not have close ties in the country applying" ( this
statement is in the immigration books that one should have close ties
from the country they are applying; and am not sure if it applies to
all visa stamping; even though you have an approval or not"
option 2
Go to Australia and get it stamped there:
Pro: I have recently acquired the permanent residency of Australia
hence showing closer ties to that country and lesser intent to
immigrate to US and the consulate might appreciate that.
Con: Since most Australians have E3 as the work visa, I am not sure if
stamping of an H1B visa with an existing approval might be out of the
ordinary for the case officer and thereby might weigh in the side of
caution and not grant me the visa or suggest me to go to my home
country (india).
Please let me if you have been in similar situation.
Please advice which option should I choose
Thank you
SM
