Default Greek islands Malta Croatia

Which of them is your favourite beach destination? I'm planning a
Mediterranean holiday and I want some days visiting cultural sights and a
week on the beach.
Thanks

Naxos has terrific beaches. I could spend my entire life there if I had the
chance.

For compact cultural/historical sights and beaches combined, Malta has to be
the choice.
The larger Greek islands obviously have both - Crete, Rhodes, etc. - but
longer travelling involved between each. Depends which 'culture' you prefer!
I might be doing Croatia a disservice, I don't know it.

Although I've never been to Malta, my understanding is that there are few
beaches there and that they have resorted to creating some artificial beaches
in touristy areas. I looked into visiting Malta and one of the main reasons I
decided not to go was that sand appears to be very scarce. If I recall
correctly from my research the beaches are more or less limited to the northern
part of the island, while the rest of the shore is rocky. Even the beaches on
the northern shorline looked quite small though.

Of course, this is all based on my internet research, so obviously someone who
has actually been to Malta can tell us more accurately what the beach situation
is like there.

You're largely right, but the northern beaches looked fine to me. They're
away from the towns and only have hotels, etc. by them.

Croatia could also be a good choice - just think Dubrovnik, or Dalmatian
coast, or Istria.

As for Greece, Rhodes and Crete have lots of beach and cultural sights.
Corfu is also very nice, but much smaller and theres not so much to see.

Ever considered Cyprus? The beaches in the South-East (araound Ayia Napa)
are very nice, and there's lots to see. It's more culture around the Paphos
Region, but there are not so nice sand-beaches in that part. By the way,
the Turkish part in the North can be visited as well from the South (quite
hassle free border crossing at the UN-checkpoint at the Ledra Palace Hotel
in Nikosia).

Regards,

Frank

If you don't like sand, as me, try pebble beaches in Croatia
www.brela.hr
and for culture - you definetly have to see Dubrovnik

Thanks to all for your replies. Rhodes was one of my favourites options.
