Default Got It !! and some useful information for hopeful applicants

Hi All

At last it is our turn to shout with joy !!! Our application has been
approved and the visas are in the passports. Timeline is given at the
bottom of this posting.

I have been surfing this group for over two years now with some
postings, as and when I had information to offer. Needless to say that
this group has been most useful in our entire application process. I
have never consulted anyone else, as this group has been able to
provide all information required.

Austimeline has also been a life saviour for most of the folks. That
was the only way to know of the estimated time taken between various
stages in the process.

I would like to point out a few things for all those who are still
waiting.

1) We gave the changed address in "Change of circumstances form".
However, the grant letter made its way to the old address !
Fortunately, we got to know that the same day. I have read a few
postings here related to the same problem with others as well. So, all
those who change residence should try and keep some form of contact at
the old address also.

2) Medicals are very general. Unless you really have some serious
problem, things are cool. Same goes for Police checks too.

3) We got our visas evidenced on the passports in a matter of few
minutes at the Australian High Commission. Visited personally with the
passports and grant letter.

4) Our initial date of entry is in accordance with our medicals (which
were sent before the Police checks). There has been some confusion
here at times. I guess that most people do get enough time to move.

Hope that the above information would help a lot of people. I will
continue to post whenever possible, though we are busy packing and
planning the move to Australia soon.

All the best to those waiting to hear the good news ! Hope you get
your visas soon.

Cheers !!

AK

Max,

I almost thought for a second you had been granted your visas then!

I remember you siad you were going to do medicals this month, but that
would have been something getting medicals and visa in same month.

Cheers,

Majj

Majj,

I WISH!!!LOL

Why is it that sometimes when you reply to a thread both sets of replies
have small print - it does make it hard to read doesn't it?

It's probably me doing something daft.

No news yourself yet? Did you call them this week?

We might call again later in the week.

Max

Max,

Not sure why the fonts come out in small print, but yes it does get
confusing.

Anyway I have so far resisted the urge to phone DIMIA, I'm saving this
for as long as I can or until I have a real excuse. However, I do send
them an email from time to time if I have a question, and always sneak
in at the end a question about progress. Now I did send them an email on
Sunday and normally they come back with an answer about Wednesdayish. On
this occassion however, I have not had a reply. So I am beginning to
wonder either their really really busy or they've chosen to ignore my
email because they might have sent out a letter......................

I know Kevpreece has posted that he is a letter on the way so I'm
keeping my eyes peeled to see when he confirms it!!

Our situation is that we are expecting our second child in July after 4
years of trying (different story for a different forum!) but complete
jubilation!!

So short of it is I want to find out if we've passed the points test
before telling DIMIA to put our case on hold since my Mrs won't be able
to do the xrays!

In the meantime we will just have to hold tight. Or maybe I should do a
sweepstake: what will come first baby or request for medicals?

Majj.

Fantastic news about the baby! God not long now! get all the sleep you
can..I've got 2 girls one 2 and one 1 (handful to say the least)!

It was tough for us to get the first one and we lost one in the process
so I can tell where your'e coming from.

Hope Mrs Majj has her feet up! It gets so uncomfortable towards the end
especially if it's hot. I made Ed sleep in the spare room for weeks as I
needed the whole bed!

Hey it should work out ok timing wise with the medicals..how old does
the babe have to be?
