Default got my charlotte interim EAD but lost my brownies

hi all.

today i arrived at charlotte USCIS at 7:15, waited in line before the
door opened. whew, talking about the cold! *this tropical girl felt
like coming out from tropical oven to the wintry fridge* few minutes
later the door opened. had to go through the security search. i
remember JG told me to have breakfast before but we were in a hurry, so
i took few brownies with me. anyway the security found my delicious
brownies, told me to food allowed then tossed my food into trash can.
there went my breakfast huhuhu...

so anyway. i got my number ticket, waited for 30-something people ahead
of me, got called and showed the passport and the receipt. waited
waited waited, at before 12 got my name called again. i went into the
room and got my picture taken and my right index finger printed. thats
all folks! interim EAD at hand! yupeee!

one thing that surprised me. i saw many people coming there for this and
that, but many people really didnt know what they are dealing with. i
mean there were some guys showed up there for something that should have
been done months ago, a little girl looking for her NOA 2... an
immigrant family wanted a resident status right away so the daughter can
pay cheaper for the college. i felt sorry for them for not preparing
what they are supposed to deal and how and when, also got little bit
unpatient because those people really made the line sooo much longer!
thanks God i found this forum. i wish more and more people join this
forum so they know what to deal with this crazy immigration process.

so, EAD at hand, tummy crying for hunger... what can be better than
that? thanks for eveyone for the tips and infos!

Congratulations! At least you didn't "toss your cookies"! (That means
throw up, btw.....)

So happy that you got what you went for!

anggraeni,

I had a similar experience in my consulate. No wonder the process is so
slow! The percentage of people who use this or similar NGs or engage
representation to their cases must be very, very small. Prolly why NG
users report scenes like Rete's, where the adjucator thanks them for the
organization and preparedness!

yes, meauxna. i just sometimes cant understand why there are plenty
people just come to USA (or plan to) and think they are in easy roller
coaster. just close your eyes, sit and everything will be fine!

ps: secret garden, hahaha.. no, i didnt 'toss my cookies' i just lost my
new tupperware with my brownies inside. thanks for giving me new
english vocabs, though!

have a nice weekend!

Hiya Anggraeni,

You should have asked to keep the brownies and told them you would eat them
outside. We spent most of the day there are few weeks ago. They told us NO
EATING inside the room! But we brought food in anyway. You are also allowed
to come and go but some of the guards seem to have a power thing going. We
ended up eating chips and fruit in there and other people shared a few items
also. None of us were thrown out! It is dumb for them to assume that people
who have to be there all day will not need to eat something now and
then...they should at least have a snack room or something off the main
waiting room.

Oh well. I hope you will not have to get another EAD or AP. It is a long
trip for you! We sat next to a couple from up Raleigh way and they started
out at 3 AM and didn't leave until after 4 PM. Yikes.

We are almost done with INS (ooops-- USBCIS) Mon has the 10 year PR Card and
just filed N-400.

Hope everything is going well upstate!

hi wolfie.

well unfortunately the officer just said i couldnt bring food inside and
if i want to keep them i had to bring them back to car. i didnt want to
loose my line and started from the very end all over again! so he took
the brownies out of my bag and said. "well what do you wanna do with
this?" then my husband said "keep it or toss it".

then the officer just threw it in the garbage can. huhuhuhu...

yes i agree with you. i mean they surely see daily, it takes hours for
people to do things in the building. and its kinds risky to go in and
out, considering you will have to go on line again, security check
again... basically you WANT to be there when yor number is called
inside, right? snack room will be good idea. or at least more garbage
can and some notice like "keep this place clean". people will
understand.

well, have a nice day.... i am going to bake some more brownies
hahahaha.

Hi anggraeni,

Congratulations. We're also dealing with USCIS CLT. I got my 1yr.

EAD back in Apr. after waiting 80 some days.

So, how's the new USCIS building look like, is it ay closer to the old
bulding, which was at East Woodlawn?

As for your brownies, I'm sorry. When we went there, we had lunch at
Bojengo's. It's right across the street frrom East Woodlawn building
(the old office).

Got any idea about AOS timelines, while you were there? Will wait for
your reply.

Cheers

-Janousek

hi janousek

the USCIS building in Tyvola Dr is big and clean. it looks nice. its not
hard to find. I have never been to old one so i cant tell you how far
are they from each other.

As for as the AOS timeline, we didnt talk to anybody taking care of
their AOS that day, sorry. maybe better if you ask in new posting,
maybe someone will explain. i would like to know about that too.

ok, have a nice week!
