Hi Lily,
I have to wait until I get these two letters before I can definitely say
anything about how long it will take to become a PR. My e-Client had two
separate messages about AIP and the decision, so I'm anticipating (hopefully
correctly) that I will receive my final approval when I get these letters.
My understanding is that I will have one more letter to wait for - the
scheduling of the landing interview. I've read posts on this board that say
that the landing interview letter comes about two to three weeks after your
final decision. I don't know for sure. If the only progress I made was
reaching AIP status, then I would consider applying for a work permit,
keeping in mind that it's taking almost two months to get one, and the final
decision could come before then. It may make more sense to just wait for
the final decision and save the $200, depending on your home country and how
long they normally take to process a background check.
Like I said in another post in this thread, I probably should have waited
until I had the letter in hand...I was just too psyched. :)
I'm not sure if it's you or your husband who is the applicant, but try using
both your maiden and married names in e-Client. My first clue that I was at
"decision made" was that it no longer recognized my maiden name. I applied
for PR in my married name, but when I first got my CIC client number, it was
under my maiden name when my temporary resident visa was first issued. I
knew it wouldn't update until the decision was made on my PR application,
even though my newest temporary visa has my married name on it. Also make
sure you're formatting your date correctly. I messed that up in the
beginning. *blush*
Your decision should be coming very soon. The only reason I received
anything before these two letters that are on their way is because they
wanted more information about my work history. Otherwise, I wasn't
expecting to get anything until the AIP stage. You don't get an AOR for an
inland case.
Good luck!
Renee :)
