Default Got IELTS score, how many points will I get?

Hi all,
Following is my test score:

Listening : 6.5
Reading : 7.0
Writing : 9.0
Speaking : 8.0
Overall Band Score : 7.5

Can I assume that I will get maximum points (16) in language category?

Thanks in advance for your opinions,
-Jef

Note: Listening part could be little tricky as they use British accent
which can be unsettling for those used to American!

No, there is nothing to assume. You IELTS score translates to the points as
follows:

Listening - 2 points
Reading - 4 points
Writing - 4 points
Speaking - 4 points

So, your total is 14 points for English in language factor.

This 6.5 will drag your score down. You need to get at least 7 in each
ability to score 16. Check out cic site. There is a specific section
dedicated to how to interpret the language test scores.

Hi Jef

I hope you practiced...the listening needs practice...then only one can get
7 or above. I doubt even native speakers of american english can get 7
unless they practice and get used to it a bit before the test.

On the whole I have rarely heard anyone getting 7 in the listening
section. Even the format they take the test is also a bit tricky and
not like toefl.

My listening score was 8 and I actually thought it to be an insult that I
have to do the test as many people in Canada can't speak proper English

Jef

I had similar situation and I aplied for reevaluation and fo my 6.5 to
7

My test center was Florida and when applied for re evaluation I was
asked the reason for my re evaluation and I told him I am looking for
a 7 and believe me I got a and my overall band was left same, One of
my 9 went to 8.5

its worth for you to give it a try and it did not cost me a penny
