Default Good Rome Dinner on a Sunday

Greetings

We meet with a very special friend in Rome on a Sunday, and it is our last
night in Italy. We would really appreciate a recommendations for a Sunday
evening.

We want good food, friendly atmosphere where it is easy to converse and
linger, and moderate pricing.

We are thinking about Colline Emiliane, but haven't been there before. Any
opinions are welcome.

Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Debbie (been off the newsgroup for awhile, breaking in new equipment)

I like Colline Emiliane, but it's a long way from my favorite
restaurant. There are many restaurants in Rome I like a lot, and
it's hard to pick one one, but here are a few, in no particular
order:

Il SanPietrino
Al Pompiere
Asinocotto
Hostaria Romana
Sora Lella
Cul de Sac
Ciccia Bomba
Il Convivio

Prices range from high (Convivio) to moderate (Ciccia Bomba), and
I'm probably leaving out a lot of places I like a lot; these are
only those that quickly sprang to mind.

I had a very nice meal once at Asinocotto. The rest are unknown to me,
but I've put them in my Rome file so that I can remedy that. Actually,
I have a small cookbook reputedly authored by a "Sora Lella". Maybe
the founder of the restaurant? Funny, I had a recipe from that book
for lunch today.

I'll second Il Convivio. Fabulous food and service.

I'm surprised that you don't know Pompiere. It's almost right
next door to the Hotel Arenula. The first time I ate there I was
staying at the Arenula, at your recommendation.

Unfortunately fabulous prices, too. As much as I like it, I don't
get there as often as I would like.

Thanks Ken
There are good choices on your list that meet our requirements. Sunday
dinner was what had us stumped, but some of your suggestions will work for
us.

I too will be adding your list to my files.
Grazie
Debbie

I'm sure I've eaten there then. I've eaten at restaurants on either
side of the hotel, but didn't make a note of the names. Was it to your
left as you exit? If so, I like it very much. The one to the right
was also not bad.

It's right on the Via S. Maria de' Calderari, number 38. As you
walk out the door of the hotel, it's on the same side of the
street just a few yards to the right, away from the Via Arenula.
You enter a little lobby, then walk up a flight of stairs to the
restaurant.

I don't think there's a restaurant on the Via S. Maria de'
Calderari to the left of the hotel as you exit. All I remember is
a barber shop before the Via Arenula.
