Default Get married after visa lodgement possible?

For instance, 4-6 months after lodging my Skilled Independent
application, assuming that I haven't received any PCC or Meds request
yet, I decided to get married and of course, want my spouse to be
included in my application too. Is this even possible?

Will this cause a BIG delay in my application if I submit additional
documents? For how long usually?

HOpe somebody can enlighten me.

thanks in advance

From what I read from this forum is for you to validate your visa first
before you can get married. anything else will compicate your
application.

How's your IEA assessment going?... :)

I am still waiting for the postman.... It's been 5 weeks now!!!
i think the reason it's delayed is because my IELTS original results was
also delayed by the British Council.

Hi,

Yes, you can get married not only after lodging skilled independent
application but also after submitting medical and pcc. Remember, it
should've been decided before receiving your grant letter.

As it's a change in circumstances then you'll have to send form 1022 and
your wife's documents in order to include her in your application. Also,
it's a good idea to include her as it'll not only save another fee but
also refrain you from the complication of applying spouse visa for her.

Once you've received your visa grant usually you can't get married
before validating your visa but in some cases you may be allowed to get
married which all depends on your case officer.

As far as the delay is concerned, yes it'll put a delay in your
application as your case will temp. be halted b/coz of the assessment of
your spouse but if you've not yet submitted your medical then it would
not impact much and i would prefer you to go a head.

In my case i also got married in the last month after submitting my
medical and pcc in May 2005 and just have submitted her docs to process
her case as per instructions of my case officer.

Regards,
M.Mateen.

hi mateen! thanks for the reply...so if i decide to get married BEFORE
application, and include him as my dependant, i dont have to pay another
application fee, right? only the 1st installment that is 1,900+. I have
seen the 2nd installment which is for Englishh tuition. Does that mean
my spouse has to take the IELTS too, so as to avoid paying the 2nd
installment?

If you've already applied and after lodgin application you want to
include him then you'll have to pay nothing under application
processing fee b/coz you have already paid your fee and he will be
included in the same.
If you've not yet lodged your applicaiton then you both will have to
apply together and will submit a single fee.
In both the above cases Vocational english is compulsory for primary
application and if your spuose i.e. dependent can't satisfy this
requirement (overall 5 band score) then he will have to attend english
language classes and for that you'll have to pay
You both will have to bear Medical/Police Clearance costs as
individual cost

To make it more clear please note that single visa application fee is
required for a single application and you may include your whole family
+ dependent in a single application. Also, note that if you include him
with you before grant letter then you both will have PR status
otherwise you'll have to apply for him for spouse visa and after
spending a 2 yrs time with you he will get the rights of PR so better
include him in the same applcation which will benefit you in term of
saving time, money and status.

I hope it's clear now and in case of any confusion please don't
hesitate to ask.

Regards,
M.Mateen.

If one gets married after applying for but before a permanent visa is
granted, the applicant must notify DIMIA of the marriage. This is not
an option.
