Default FYI Document organization

I have to say I'm very proud of my "little" binder of info.. I thought
I'd post it so that maybe it might help someone else get organized...
I
put EVERYTHING in a 3 ring binder.. Mine happens to be a 3" it is jam
packed.. Every peice of evidence is in a plastic sheet protector..
There is a color coded table of contents at the front. It is set up as
follows..

Section #1
Marriage license
Husbands BC
Wifes BC
Divorce
decree (previous marriage)
copy of wife's passport
DS 157
DS 156K (two
are required)
DS 156K
all forms from medical and police random order

Copy of DL and SS card (showing wifes name change)

Section #2
AOS
I-
134
Letter from Bank x2
Letter from Employer x2
2003 tax return
2003 tax
transcript
2003 w-2's
2002 tax return
2002 tax transscript
2002 w-2's

2001 tax return
2001 tax transcript
2001 w-2's
Child Support order

summary of payments
12 months canceled checks for child support
12
months of bank statments (support payments highlighted)

section 3
Co-
Sponsor info
Letter from co-sponsor explaining why they agreed to
Sponsor
I-134 form
Summary of financial security.
Identical documents
as in section 2

Section 4
Pictures
in date order labeled front and
back
Lots of close up pictures with me and my in-laws
little summary's
of what was going on in the pictures

Section 5
Professional
Correspondance
NOA's
Letters from Senator
Emails to and from Consulate

Department of State

Section 6
Hand Written Correspondance between
husband and wife only
cards, letters, notes

Section 7
Email
correspondance husband and wife only
We chose about 10 emails for each
month from our online meeting through the interview date. We included
love declarations as well as arguements.

Section 8
Hand written
correspondance Family and Friends
cards, letters etc..

Section 9
Email
correspondance Family and Friends

Section 10
Phone correspondance

Copies of phone bills
Calling card company gave a print out of all
cards purchased (I buy mine online) showing the phone number that was
called.

Section 11
All financial support my husband has received from
me since our marriage.. Don't know if this is a good thing or not....

Section 12
LETTERS and STATEMENTS
This section includes letters and
statements from family, friends, church leaders, tribal rulers, and
employers from both Nigeria and the US stating various things.
Family
from Nigeria stating that they have both met me and approve of our
marriage.
Church Elders stating character and standing in the church
etc
ect..

The plan is not to hand over the binder, but to organize
everything so that my husband will be able to easily locate any thing
they ask for.

Hopefully, when they ask for something out of the
ordinary it will be in that binder, and they will be surprised that he
has it.. If we turned over the binder, we think they will just ask for
something that is not there.. So, that's the plan.. Anyone having any
comments of things that you think we are missing please feel free to
advise.. I mainly posted this for those who don't really know what to do
with all that they have.. Just one idea of many I'm sure..

Hey Ruthann,
Sounds like a good plan so far, I like the part about not
giving them the folder and trying to make sure they can't ask you for
anything you weren't prepared for. How soon is the Interview again? It's
really soon now isn't it?

Hey Jeff,

How have you been? His interview
is at the end of May. I can tell you that it's been disheartening at
times to read some of these posts. Sounds like we have a zillion to 1
chance of him getting it.. I'd really like to know the statistics
regarding k3's and Lagos especially for men... Anyway, there was a post
I read today on the NG that said if I had a big butt Sunny's chances are
better! LOL in that case the whole country can come over! LOL

Nice to
hear from you, if you and Remi are praying Christians we would
appreciate your prayers!

Blessings,
Ruthann

Hey JeffB,
Do you think the
picutures that I took of scenery and the market and things that don't
don't include Sunny and I in them will be a waste of space? I mean I
have tons of pictures but not tons of pictures with us in them.. Mainly
wedding photos of he and I .. the rest are family and friends and
places he took me..
what do you think?

There is only one little problem with your binder idea. That is that
you are using a three hole punched side binder whereas the documents
taken from your husband will be placed in a file which requires a two
hole punch at the top of the document. You might want to keep the
binder you have made but also two hole punch the top of each document
for ease in their filing the paperwork they take from your husband.

Also since most of those documents will indeed be required by the
Consulate at the time of the interview, will your husband be comfortable
with taking each document out of its plastic sleeve, especially if the
person collecting the documentation (which they usually do) before the
interview is conducted wants everything quickly? Will he fumble and
have a difficult time of it and become frustrated?

Those are just my
thoughts. You are well organized and I think your idea has merit but as
a keepsake for your files and not perhaps as the originals needed for
the Consulate interview.

Ruthann I don't think it can hurt, the more pictures the better for
Lagos. Even if they don't look at all of them, they can't say you don't
have enough pictures.
I know it may sound discouraging about the
chances for the Visa, but perserverence can help. Just something to
remember, I know it is tough to look at it this way, but there is a lot
of fraud from the males trying to get to the US from Nigeria. That is
the reason the Consulars are very tough on them. I know honest guys get
caught in the scrutiny too, but the Consulars are actually trying to
weed out someone that could ruin your (or any unsuspecting ladies) life.
The Consulars in Lagos are known for actually visiting homes of male
husbands and fiance's to find out information. I know it may seem that
they are trampling on our rights, but it is the Consulars responsibility
to stop potential criminals from entering our Country. I am not really
on the side of the Consulars for being nasty for no reason, but it also
frustrates me to see innocent people being taken advantage of and
sufering because of it.
Take heart Ruthann and remember, God's will for
us is not always what we want, but what we need. The hard part is
accepting that what is happening RIGHT NOW, at this very moment(and all
the next) is happening exactly according to God's plan, for whatever
reasons we can or cannot understand. And I know firsthand how hard
acceptence in this process is, it's very tough.
Things will work out for
all of us the way they are supposed to.

Jeff and Remi
