Default Florida Drivers License

I applied for a change of status (vistor visa) and have reached the
stage where I have now received my social security number. The
driver's license from my original country expires next month and I
would like to get my Florida Drivers license.

I was told by the Drivers License office that I wll need to do a full
Written and Driving test.

Does anyone know if this means I need to start as far back as the 4
hour Drug Awareness Program and Learner's permit first? Or do I simply
make a appointment to do the written and road test? I called the
office twice and the people who answered me had to be asking around
their office for the info and also seemed very unsure of their
answers. I also tried looking online for information pertaining to
immigrant visa applicants seeking to get their FL drivers license, but
see no specific info as far as the exact procedure for my case.

Can anyone point me to such info or help out in any way?
Thanks.

Default Re: Florida Drivers License

When I arrived in the Florida, three years ago, from the UK I just had
to do the written test and the road test. I am pretty sure you do not
have to do the things required to gain a learners permit.

At that
time, pre 9/11/01 it was possible to do the tests at any drivers'
licence center, but now I think that only certain centers can be used
by foreign nationals.

I found that both the written and practical tets
were pretty straight forward.

I wish you well.
